chest
Give an old trunk or chest a
mellow, beachy outlook—color it
sandy-beige and finish with
a scallop-shell medallion.
HERE’S HOW Turn a trunk on its
back. Paint, if desired. Make a
mark at the center of the trunk.
Apply E-6000 to the edges of four
large scallop shells. Place them
in a circle around the mark at the
center. Glue a sundial shell in
the middle of the scallop shells.
Let glue set before turning trunk
right-side up.
marine motif
Mounted above the mantel or in
the entryway, a wreath made from
broken bits of coral will give your
room a touch of the tropics.
HERE’S HOW Paint a flat wooden
wreath form to match the color of
the coral. Allow paint to dry. Glue
broken coral onto the form, starting
with the larger pieces. Fill in gaps
with smaller ones. Let the wreath
dry overnight before hanging.

seeing stars
For a splash of summer, drape a
starfish garland across a mirror or
window frame.
HERE’S HOW Lay starfish of similar
size on work surface in a neat row.
Apply Beacon 527 to the back of
each, following their natural groove.
Lay string over the glue, continuing
until desired length is reached. Let
glue set before hanging.
